As a cognitive neuroscientist, my research interests focus on how sleep and other periods of quiet rest facilitate memory consolidation and creative problem solving. I use EEG and behavioral methods to understand how sleep may be a particularly fruitful brain state for the transformation of memory representations and I develop interventions to encourage this cognitive processing to occur during sleep. I am also broadly interested in how changes in sleep-associated cognitive processing can impact mental health and cognitive aging. I am affiliated with the Behavioral Science Health Psychology and Cognitive Science PhD and Master’s programs and I am passionate about mentoring both graduate and undergraduate students. If you are interested in joining my lab, please email me so we can discuss our shared interests.
