Transfer Student Experience (TSE)

The Transfer Student Experience (TSE) is for first-semester Psychology majors transferring from another institution.  It is designed to help students define and refine their academic and career paths in psychology.  Students are encouraged to identify their sub-disciplinary path (e.g., Clinical/Counseling, I/O, Forensic, Neuropsychology) and research careers aligned with their path, as well as graduate school options and requirements.  Students are also exposed to leadership and co-curricular opportunities within the major, the university, and in the community, and learn how to utilize student resources across campus.

The TSE consists of a dedicated psychology course in which all TSE members are enrolled: PSYC 2300 (Transfer Success Strategies).  Please note that PSYC 2300 is NOT a generic student success course; it is a course that will be a foundation for the remaining psychology courses you take at Charlotte.  Past participants have rated the TSE as a valuable foundational experience, and research has shown that TSE participants perform better academically their first year at Charlotte, and are more satisfied with their major than transfer students not participating.

The TSE is offered in both fall and spring semesters, with options for both in-person and online sections to accommodate diverse transfer student needs. For details and enrollment instructions, please speak with your advisor during New Student Orientation. You may also contact the TSE Coordinator, Dr. Kim Buch, if you have questions about this opportunity.
