Academic Advising
Academic advising in the Department of Psychological Science is here to support all students, whether they are Psychology majors or minors. The goal is to help students navigate their academic journey, understand their degree requirements, explore opportunities within the field, and plan for their future endeavors. The department is committed to providing the guidance students need to succeed and make the most of their time in Psychological Science.
Scheduling an Advising Appointment
UNC Charlotte utilizes Connect for scheduling advising appointments. Students can only schedule an advising appointment with an advisor if one has been assigned. Students should check their Connect account to find their assigned advisor. If a student is a declared Psychology major, they should follow the steps below to schedule an appointment with their assigned advisor. If a student does not have an assigned advisor or has not yet declared the Psychology major, they can email psychology@charlotte.edu for assistance.
Steps to Schedule an Advising Appointment
Step 1: Log in to Connect.
Step 2: Click the blue “Make an Appointment” button at the top right.
Step 3: Under “What type of appointment would you like to schedule?”, choose “Academic Advising.”
Step 4: Select “Academic Advising” again.
Step 5: Pick a date and click “Find Available Times.” (When selecting an advisor, choose the one for the program you want to discuss.)
Step 6: Select a time.
Step 7: Review your appointment details and click “Schedule” at the bottom of the page.
Step 8: Be on time for your appointment with your DegreeWorks audit ready.
Academic Advising Appointment Policy
Students are expected to arrive punctually for academic advising appointments. Should a student be unable to attend, they are required to cancel and reschedule the appointment via Connect.
Late arrivals without prior notification will result in automatic appointment cancellation; the student will then be responsible for rescheduling.
Students who miss multiple academic advising appointments within a single semester must contact their Advisor directly via email or Connect to discuss future advising arrangements and necessary next steps.
